Event Details

About the Event

While usually held in January, hence the moniker January Event, it was held just shy on February 2. The theme of the event was the Crusades, which was expanded after receiving words from Their Majesties that they would like to expand the event to a Tournament of Chivalry.

The site was again the Berea Fairgrounds which proved ample for all the planned activities. The event stewards Bernhard Stürmære and Tyzes Sofia outdid themselves planning a top-notch event. The kitchen was headed by novice feast steward Edward FitzRanulf who, with the help of his lovely assistant Madelaine, gritted his teeth and bit into the problem of serving an excellent feast at a site with no kitchen.

Jared of Coventry was the Gatekeeper, assisted by the lovely Lassarina. The entry fee was a mere $6 for advanced registration. Cherise of Cleftlands organized the merchants. With Their Majesties Palymar and Aislinn, Their Highnesses Lutr and Tessa, and Their Majesties Aethelmearc Duncan and Ilish in attendance, the liaison Stephan von Lübeck was assisted by Seadna O'Bainainn and Ceinwen ferch Elidure O’Denbeigh. Artair Mac Neacail, the site steward for the event, won the Unbelted Tournament for which the prize was the honor to hold the field with the Knights. Clara d'Este documented this auspicious event behind the camera.

The Shire of Eastwatch was to be raised to full status at court, but through a clerical error the piece of business was missed. Fortunately Their Majesties were able to re-open court at feast and officially recognize the Shire.

We will be traveling to the Kingdom of the Midrealm and have been invited to bring Our Chivalry, unbelted fighters, Fencers and populace to enjoy a day of tournaments. Please join us in the Barony of the Cleftlands in the Kingdom of the Midrealm on February 2, 2008. We ask you to stand with your King in tournament, ready your foils in the name of AEthelmearc, and for the populace to wear the Escarbuncle with pride.
