Nest Bengrek was born in 1201 and died in 1235 near Gwynedd, Wales. She learned needle-working from her sisters and some of the scribal arts from a Cistercian monk. Her most prized possession was her beautiful alto recorder, which she often played with some of the townsfolk on festival days. She married a decent fellow and bore him a suitable number of children before she died of an unseasonable chill in 1235. (Note: the short lifespan is so that Nest never knows that Wales loses its independence.)

As a subject of the fair King and Queen of the Midrealm, Nest joined the SCA in the Barony of Red Spears in 2008 with David Hawke. She did calligraphy on her first scroll at her first event, a Yule Feast, as court was starting. After graduating college, she relocated back home and joined the Barony of the Cleftlands in 2010. She has since become a regular at Needleworker's Guild, dabbled in period cookery, and joined the Northern Oaken Recorder Ensemble in 2011. Nest served as Cleftlands Minister of Arts and Sciences.
