About the Event
Our September Dessert Revel for 2002 became a Baronial Investiture. We met in the Community room on the first floor of the Shore Center, somewhat nicer than our normal rooms. Everyone put on their best garb and Cleftlanders who have been missing in action for years came out in droves as well as friends of the Barony.
There were three dessert tables supervised by Angharad and the Cook's Guild. A Royal Court was held with several awards given out as well as the Investiture. Sir Ephraim and Madelaine recited their oaths as Baron and Baroness from memory. Finally, there was a brief Baronial court where the newly invested Baron Ephraim and Baroness Madelaine called forward the Baronial Champions and thanked them for their service and asked if it was their intention to continue to serve as Baronial Champions. The Champions said 'aye' and took their places behind the new Baron and Baroness. A gift from the Baron and Baroness of the debatable lands was also presented, M&M Candies in azure and argent. No baronial meeting was held.
Personal Memories
It was a short event, just three hours long, too short for the amount and varieties of emotion. I like and respect Sir Ephraim and Madelaine very much, but felt no joy at seeing them crowned Baron and Baroness. Only sorrow that this was forced to be.
